Ru de Boer: half a century of ceramics

06-03-2010 / 22-05-2010

Ru de Boer was born in 1920 in Haarlem. At the age of 26 he started working at the Zaalberg factory in Leiderdorp, without any knowledge of ceramics. He worked there for almost 11 years and taught himself the principles of throwing and glazing. In 1957 he was asked to start a new department in the 'RAM' factory in Arnhem. When the factory closed in 1969, Ru de Boer started teaching at different academies. When he officially retired in 1985, he had more time for personal work, mostly unique pieces.
